To all you fellow mom's out there

I read an article a few weeks ago that really resonated with me. It was written specially for women (don't worry men, you can keep reading) and it talked about how judgmental us women can be. I have found that to be so true being a mom. (you can find the article here)

As a mother, I have noticed that so many people are judgmental/critical of our choices for our children: the food they eat, the games they play, how they sleep, TV they watch, you name it. Some people are quite outspoken about their opinions, from the stranger in the supermarket to your family and friends, everyone has an opinion.

The best advice I have received as a mom came from two different women, but boiled down to the same point. God entrusted these children to you, not to anyone else. You know them better than anyone, so trust your gut and follow what God tells you to do. What He tells you is probably going to be different from what He tells your best friend, your parents, your sister and your facebook following ... and that's ok.

Give yourself grace. Give your friends grace. Being a mom is hard. And when you find yourself getting "that look" or being criticized by others, be able to let it go. God wouldn't have given you your child if He didn't think you could handle it. And you're doing a great job!

Yep - back in the day all we had was our sisters, our friends, our moms and our GUT! No shelves of books or the invasion of information from the internet so we relied on each other and our best gut! And certainly not as much potential judgement cuz we were all just doing the best we could. Enjoy your babies, enjoy being a mama and don't let the overload of info or each other stress you out. Let the 'perfect' mom out there cast the first stone...otherwise drop it, move on and let there be camaraderie amongst the ranks of motherhood!
